The Art of Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons

The Art of Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons

I have this sense that 2011 will be a year filled with great and inspiring art exhibits that I will travel to see. Exhibitions that move away from traditional and/or shock, but rather whose intent is to honestly educate and invites the viewer to participate in a conversation about the art and the artist.

Paintings and Mixed Media Assemblages by Kim Kristoff & Shari Bombeck at Trinity Cathedral & the Olney Gallery! Also “The Just Society Film Festival” will host “Somewhere near Tapachula”

A truly inspiring story of love, life and hope. Set in Tapachula, Mexico, this documentary looks at the horrific childhoods of 54 kids, their new life at Mission Mexico, and the exciting future of following their dreams.
It also focuses on the unique surf community that they have pioneered in Tapachula, a coastal city with no other wave riders. To these kids the ocean is not just a place of fun, it’s an escape from what life used to be.7:00-9:00 p.m

Painting by Brian Kershisnik at The Mesa Art Center

What I appreciate most about Brian Kershisnik’s Paintings, is his uncomplicated way of telling of a story. Most of our lives are void of heavy drama and are filled instead with simply unnoticeable and fulfilling events. His paintings are about these events that we acknowledge only as we look back at what gave us the most joy.

The Brooklyn Museum is still in my opinion a secret New York treasure. The museum is not located on museum row therefor it is a pre-meditated visit and it is a place that more people should think about visiting.

Young African by Consuelo Kanaga

There is current exhibit that ends Oct. 17th that is worth a drop by for anyone who wants to get a better and different handle on the history of this country.
