Looking for humor and discovered more. Some parts of the film are very funny and it does a great job showing us how flawed we all are. Great performances by all the folks we know, Julianne Moore, Annette Bening, Mark Ruffalo and a beautiful portrait of a young lady by Mia Wasikowska (Joni) who I did not know.
The film is a portrait of a contemporary family, (same-sex parents and sperm donors etc.) with an expanded storyline that includes the question that we are always asking of ourselves, how did we become who we are, are we our mothers and fathers and could we have been different. And can our kids escape our flaws and become something totally different, their own person?
The Kids are All Right, good flick

Laura Linney - The Big C
The Big C, Mondays on Showtime with the “C” meaning cancer, is humorous look at life when faced with our on reality. This series so far has clicked on on cylinders, cast, writing, and production. There is not the pity focus nor is there bucket list gaiety. Some times the things you miss out on are some of the simplest we can imagine.
Obviously the show is not about Cancer, it is deeper then that. It is about the appreciation for what we can still do, regardless of the time. It’s fun.

Promotional Photo "Knight and Day"
Went to see “Knight and Day” the Tom Cruise action/comedy flick over the holiday weekend and laughed myself silly. Reminded me of a Carey Grant or John Wayne movie, where they play themselves. I’ve never heard Cruise use an accent or try to walk, smile or look differently successfully (my opinion) with the one exception of Tropical Thunder. Cameron Diaz is the perfect comedy partner, Knight and Day is a different kind of “Charlie’s Angels”.
“Apple Pie for Everyone” and “Someday”. That’s a dangerous word. It’s really just a code for ‘never’.
The movie borrows heavily and respectfully from recent action hero movies which adds to the fun. A good Saturday flick

I am most likely the last person to see this movie and seeing it last night moved me. The story was so familiar to me, as if it were a story about my neighborhood, friends and the strain of transforming yourself from a kid to an adult.
What grabbed me most was the feeling of being trapped in what is most comfortable, sometimes called the box we are born into. I believe this was Dito Montiel first time directing and it was masterful. If there any other, late to the party people, like me I suggest you place it on your Nextflix list.

Claire Danes and Julia Ormond
Being different is to be gifted. I’ve never been more certain of this after listening to interviews with Dr. Temple Grandin, who sees and understands the world in an extraordinary way. The HBO movie about Temple Grandin which first aired this past Sunday (Super Bowl Sunday) features Claire Danes as Dr. Grandin, helps to open our eyes to how little we know about anything, especially conditions like Autism. Temple Grandin through her accomplishments provides all of us an opportunity to begin to understand and appreciate.
I think it is important to acknowledge HBO for producing this film and to also acknowledge Claire Danes for her wonderful performance.

Pedro Almodóvar has a delightful way of telling a story.
Lluís Homar
Without discussing the plot, Broken Embraces (Los Abrazos Rotos) is reminiscent of Hitchcock both in the telling of the story and visuals. There is something sinister going on and the audience is intrigued and charmed.
Blanca Portillo
It’s funny and sad and never forced. Penelope Cruz and Blanca Portillo both blessed with extraordinary faces that deliver comedic lines with a seriousness that add to the plot of the movie. The film also stars Lluís Homar a seasoned, rugged, good looking actor and director who is perfect in his role.
This is the kind of movie that requires more then one viewing (always with sub-titles). There is a lot more to see and to be fascinated with. Good flick.
