This was a Show. There were these wonderful sounds coming from Andy Roddick. Heavy breathing, footsteps and tennis balls traveling through the air at 140 miles per hour. But like James Bond, the original 007, Roger Federer in his tuxedo tennis outfit was unfazed. He is a work of art.

More on Joy

I am most likely the least positive thinking person in my family and feel sometimes overwhelmed with all the happy thoughts going around here. But it works, it does make a difference to the people you come in contact with.  Cybel’s post today on Auntie Carrie illustrates how little you need to do in order to bring some joy to someone’s life.

A Personal Experience, Joy in Doing What you Like

Goldie

I’ve made mention in an earlier post that I love painting heads. I experiment with colors and brush work. I start off with a vision of what I want to get down on the canvas. Sometimes I get close to what I had in mind. Often I am so far away from my original intent that I become concerned and frustrated. But always there is joy.

Finding Inspiration

I was sitting in the park today and saw a bunch of students sitting by a fountain. One girl took her time to play with the leaves in the water. It was a wonderfully idyllic image. Very Pre-Raphaelite. I decided that that would be the inspiration for my next painting. And then in the mail today, I got an invite for an exhibit of Per Fronth’s new work. It was from one of my favorite galleries in New York. I just checked out their website and was tickled to see this painting by him. I love the title, “One Hundred Years of Complete Boredom”. I’d love to think that every image I create is one of kind. However, I find equal joy in being attracted to similar themes as other artists that I admire. Its like running into a friend and finding out that the night before, you both had a similar dream.
