“Tradition, Change, and Celebration in Native Women’s Dresses” will be featured at the Museum of the American Indian in NYC from Sept. 26, 2008 to Sept. 2009

The designs include full skirts, good for horse back riding, dresses used for ceremonial coming of age dances, and bead decorated garments detailing tribal/group membership.

“Bringing together a vast array of dresses and accessories from the Plains, Plateau, and Great Basin regions of the United States and Canada, Identity by Design highlights Native women’s identity through traditional dress and its contemporary evolution.”
